The nature reserve Wolfsbachtal is located in the right-bank part Bonn between the hamlet Holzlar belonging villages Gielgen and Heide mountains in North Rhine-Westphalia . With a size of around 13 hectares, the area is one of the smaller nature reserves in Bonn. The area worthy of protection was established on June 16, 2004 when the " Ennert " landscape plan became legally binding.
The protective designation serves to secure a stream valley that is worthy of preservation. The Wolfsbach , a near-natural flowing water, runs in a Mulde valley with steep valley ridges and seepage swamps. In the valley area there is an alder-ash forest alongside the water. The bank vegetation is rich in species and has a characteristic appearance. The area is home to numerous endangered animals and plants on the Red List . The uniqueness of the area is decisively shaped by the geomorphology of the relatively undisturbed Mulden valley.
