The Nauwald (NSG-00164.01) is a 167 hectare nature reserve in the district of Günzburg , with which a relatively originally preserved Danube riparian forest area was placed under protection in 1982. Typical plants of lowland forest companies that have been detected there, including squill , spring snowflake , twayblade , cuckoo flower , Turk's cap , Austrian ribs seed and Horsetail . In the silting zones, mosquito-handelwort and flesh-colored orchid were discovered. Backwaters and gravel heats are further habitats in the nature reserve. The bird life there includes red and black kites , water rail , kingfisher and collared flycatchers .
