Navid ( Persian نویدalso Navid-e Elm-o San'at Persian نوید علم و صنعت) is an experimental Earth observation satellite operated by the Iranian Space Agency .

The 50 kg nanosatellite was brought into orbit about 375 km above sea level on February 3, 2012 by a Safir B launcher. According to information from Iranian authorities, it was developed by the Iran University of Science and Technology and is intended to collect weather data and keep an eye out for possible natural disasters. The service life of the satellite is given as two months. Compared to the previous satellites Omid and Rasad 1 , the satellite has improved control technology, a camera with higher resolution and better solar cells for generating electricity, according to statements by the Iranian news agency IRNA .
