Neal McCoy
Neal McCoy (* 30th July 1963 as Hubert Neal McGaughey in Jacksonville , Texas ) is an American country singer .
Beginnings
Neal comes from an Irish-Filipino family. After his parents' divorce, his mother remarried (years later, Neal took his new father's surname - McCoy). From an early age he showed a keen interest in all types and forms of music. He took every opportunity to sing and make music.
After graduating from school, he went to clubs and dance halls. After winning a talent competition, he decided to become a professional musician. At one of his appearances, the country singer Janie Fricke noticed him, who recommended him to Charley Pride . Neal was hired for the star's pre-tour program. He worked with Charley Pride for a total of seven years.
Career as Neal McCoy
In 1987 he got a record deal with a small Nashville label. A few moderately successful singles were produced. In 1990 he switched to the Atlantic label as Neal McCoy . His breakthrough came four years later when the single No Doubt About It, extracted from the album of the same name , reached number one on the country charts. A second song from this album, Wink , also made it to the top of the charts. The album itself sold over a million copies and went platinum .
McCoy's next publications were also successful, although no more top positions could be achieved. It wasn't until the end of the decade that sales began to decline. He concentrated more and more on his tours, which, thanks to his lively appearance, met with broad public interest.
