Nechama Tec
Nechama Tec or Neḥamā Ṭeq (* 1931 as Nechama Bawnik in Lublin ) is a retired professor of sociology at the University of Connecticut in Stamford, novel and screenwriter and Holocaust survivor.
Life
During the occupation of Poland, Tec lived in hiding with a Catholic family for three years. Her parents and siblings were saved from deportation and death by the Bielski partisans .
In the post-war period she married the child psychiatrist Leon Tec, with whom she emigrated to the USA in 1952.
Tec studied and earned his doctorate at Columbia University and was professor at the University of Connecticut in Stamford in 1974 .
She is the mother of the filmmaker Roland Tec .
