Need to Control is the second studio album by the US grindcore band Brutal Truth . It was released on Earache Records in October 1994 .

Emergence

The album was recorded in March 1994 with Steve McAllister and Brutal Truth at Baby Monster Studios and Platinum Island Studios in New York City . Backing vocals were taken on by Mike Williams of EyeHateGod on MediaBlitz , a cover for The Germs , and by Bill Yurkiewicz ( Exit-13 , Relapse Records ) on Black Door Mine . Andy Haas played the Godplayer Didgeridoo . The record was mixed in July 1994 at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool by Colin Richardson and Brutal Truth.

reception

In what was then Rock Hard , the album received below-average grades and landed on 37th and last place in the monthly editorial charts. In a “+/-” review, however, Markus Müller gave eight out of ten points and wrote: “With this album, Brutal Truth impressively underline that they are still number one in Grindcore.” The band understood “really good songs To write. ”On the other hand, Wolfgang Schäfer wrote:“ Brutal Truth still cannot or do not want to write songs, and I am not willing to pull out more than two points for this shit. ”These reviews are not available online, however. Instead, a review by Michael Rensen can be found on the magazine's website. He praised "cleverly placed breaks ", but abstained from evaluating. Marc van der Pol wrote on Allmusic.com that Grindcore fans could downgrade the album because of its “polished aesthetic”, but the ingenuity and “really creative spirit” of the record cannot be denied. It awarded 4.5 out of five stars and the “AMG Album Pick” award.
