Neelam Deo (* before 1950 ) is a retired Indian diplomat . Among other things, she worked as an ambassador to Denmark and West Africa .

Career

Neelam Deo studied economics at Delhi University and taught at its university from 1971 to 1974.

In 1975, Deodorant joined the Indian Foreign Service IFS. Among other things, she was later responsible for relations with Bangladesh , Sri Lanka , Myanmar and the Maldives as “Joint Secretary” to the Foreign Minister .

In 1996 Deo was appointed ambassador to Denmark and changed from 1999 to 2002 in the same function to Ivory Coast , with non-resident accreditation in Guinea , Niger and Sierra Leone . Her last role from 2005 to 2008 was as Consul General in New York City .

The following year Deodorant left the Indian Foreign Service and became a co-founder of the Gateway House - Indian Council on Global Relations . This institution is a geopolitical think tank modeled on the US Council on Foreign Relations .

Neelam Deo is married to Pramod Deo, an official in the Indian administration. The couple has a daughter.
