Neiafu is the largest city, an administrative district and the capital of the Vavaʻu archipelago in the north of the Pacific Kingdom of Tonga .

The city is located on the Port of Refuge , a deep sea port on the south coast of the main island of the Vavaʻu Archipelago, which is also served by cruise ships. The highest point is 113 m of Mount Talau with its characteristic flattened silhouette. In Neiafu there are banks, schools, a police station and a hospital.

In 2006 the district had 5787 inhabitants. It is divided into the villages of Neiafu (4123 inhabitants), Makave (485), Toula (389), Utui (268), Ofu (128), Okoa (305), ʻOloʻua (89) and Kenutu (0).
tourism
Because of the location, the anchorages and the possibilities for supplies and repairs, Neiafu is popular with sailing and cruise tourists. One of the popular places is Mala Island, west of Neiafu.
