The Neighbor Peak is a 760 m high mountain on South Georgia . It rises 1.5 km west of the Pirnerberg on the banks of the Royal Bay .
The British Combined Services Expedition (1964–1965) identified it as the mountain that the German expedition, headed by Carl Schrader , had named as a neighbor during the First International Polar Year (1882–1883) . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 1971 with the addition of the field name .
