location

The two better preserved or restored from a series of 15 systems that were once lost in the 19th century are located about 200 m apart in the area of the municipalities of Vervant (the tumulus) and Cellettes (the "sacrificial stone"). They probably date from the 4th millennium BC. Chr.

Pierre à sacrifice (Pierre du sacrifice)

The Pierre à sacrifice , apparently worked on all sides, is the visible part of a dolmen ( 45 ° 50 ′ 40 ″  N , 0 ° 8 ′ 57 ″  E ) and consists only of a plate with the engraving of a crook . The dolmen with a square burial chamber about 3.3 m long has been destroyed, the stone with the sculpture was built as the edge of a well on a farm in Vervant.

tumulus

The larger stones of the tumulus ( 45 ° 50 ′ 34 ″  N , 0 ° 8 ′ 56 ″  E ) were intact, but the outer wall, ceiling and corridor have been supplemented with limestone slabs . The system consists of the main chamber and a small side chamber. The passage runs obliquely to the chamber. The complex contains old scratches on an inner wall; the depiction of an ax and the calotte at the entrance to the side chamber are new.
