Nelson is a glam metal band from the USA .
It was founded by Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, the twin sons of Ricky Nelson . They had a number one hit in the US in September 1990 with (Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection . The band released on Geffen Records until 1995 , after the separation they sold their records on their own label Stone Canyon Records . So far, however, they have not been able to build on their success with their debut album.
history
Growing up in a musical family, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson have always been familiar with music. In the early 1980s they joined the band Strange Agents. They later formed their own band, with which they got a contract with Geffen Records. Their 1990 debut album After the Rain was a success and the band went on tour to promote the album. The single (Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection became a number one hit in the US.
Following the tour, the band began producing their second album. The result was a much heavier album than the first, the concept album Imaginator . When the album was presented to Geffen Records, the label felt it was too harsh and threatened to throw the band off the label if a new recording was not made that was more to their taste.
The band spent another year recording another album. This album Because They Can was accepted by the label and released in 1995. Since popular music had changed a lot five years after After the Rain , Geffen decided not to promote the album and eventually fired Nelson. The Nelson brothers then founded their own label Stone Canyon Records , on which they released Imaginator in 1996. With this label they have released four more albums to date, including a tribute album to their father.
Although they no longer have great success in the US, their records are still selling consistently well in Japan.
