Nelson Agresta , full name Nelson Agresta del Cerro , (born August 2, 1955 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player and coach.

Player career

The 1.82 meter tall midfielder Agresta started his career in 1974 in the ranks of Liverpool Montevideo . From 1975 to 1976 he played for Estudiantes de La Plata . In 1977 he worked for the Argentinos Juniors . In 1979 and 1980 he was a member of the Nacional Montevideos team in the Primera División . In 1980 the "Bolsos" became Uruguayan champions.

Further career stations were from 1981 to 1982 River Plate Montevideo , 1983 Sud América , 1984 San Luis Quillota (13 first division games / one goal), 1986 Liga de Portoviejo and 1988 Iván Mayo Villa Alemana .

National team

Agresta was part of the Uruguayan U-20 national team that took part in the 1974 Junior South American Championship in Chile . The team became vice-South American champions. During the tournament he was used six times by coach Carlos Silva Cabrera . He did not score a hit. He was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed 34 internationals between August 30, 1979 and November 4, 1983 and scored one international goal. With the Celeste he took part under coach Roque Máspoli at the Copa America 1979 and under Omar Borrás at the Copa America 1983 . In 1983 he won the title with Uruguay. In 1983 he also won the Copa Artigas with Uruguay . He also came to the Nehru Cup 1982 won by Uruguay and as part of the qualification for the 1982 World Cup to train.

Coaching career

After his active career, Agresta hit the coaching career. In the first half of the 1990s he was a coach at Sud América for a time . At least in December 1998 he was in charge of the Segunda División's league selection. In 1999 he was a coach at River Plate Montevideo . His coaching team included Juan Antonio Tchakidjian as "Preparador Físico". In mid-May 2000 it was announced that he would take over as coach at Beijing Guoan .

He also coached clubs in Brazil, Colombia, Japan, China and the Uruguayan Primera División. The Chinese club Tianjin Teda was one of his coaching stations . In 2010 Agresta, who also has a Spanish passport, lived in Gandía .
