The Nelson River is a river in the west of the Australian state of Tasmania .

River course
The river has its source on the western slopes of Last Hill in the southwest corner of the Cradle Mountain Lake St. Clair National Park and flows southwest into Lake Burbury and thus into the King River . Shortly before the reservoir, the falls over Nelson Falls .
