Nenko Balkanski

Nenko Dimitrow Balkanski ( Bulgarian Ненко Димитров Балкански ; born September 20, 1907 in Kazanlyk , † September 19, 1977 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian painter .

Life

In 1930 Balkanski completed a painting degree at the Art Academy in Sofia . In 1939 and 1940 he studied in France . In 1960 he became a professor at the Sofia School of Fine Arts . In his works he mainly devoted himself to social problems and is considered a representative of realistic Bulgarian painting.

He was awarded the Dimitrov Prize as a hero of socialist work . In addition, he was the bearer of the Georgi Dimitrov order .
