Neos Kafkasos ( Greek Νέος Καύκασος ( m. Sg. ) 'New Caucasus') is a village in the municipality of Kato Klines in the Greek municipality of Florina . It lies at an altitude of around 680 meters on the Lynkestis plain and is around one kilometer from the Greek border with North Macedonia . The Sakoulevas River flows east of the village a few hundred meters away. Neos Kafkasos is a foundation of Pontos Greeks after their flight from the city of Kars on the Caucasus, which in 1921 had finally become Turkish, hence the name. In 1924 Neos Kafkasos was recognized as an independent rural community (kinotita) , incorporated into the Kato Klines community in 1997 and merged with this in 2011 in the Florina community.
The population is 229 people. The planned foundation of the place is recognizable by the right-angled streets and the rectangular ground plan of the village. The route of the disused railway line Thessaloniki – Bitola, which was built in 1894, runs through the middle of the village. In the 20th century, the border station for this line was located in Neos Kafkasos.
