The Neptune Fountain ( Italian : Fontana del Nettuno ) in Rome is one of the three fountains on the Piazza Navona .

As a counterpart to the Fontana del Moro, it flanks the central four rivers fountain created by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the north of the square . It was built in 1574 by Giacomo della Porta as a simple fountain without figures. It received its present form with fountain figures between 1873 and 1878: A Neptune created by Antonio della Bitta stabs an octopus , flanked by other mythological sea figures (works by Gregorio Zappalà ).
