Nero Multimedia Suite is a program package for Windows that is developed and offered by Nero AG . The Nero 2017 version was released in October 2016.

Version differences

From version 10 onwards, Nero is offered in a nameless or classic variant and in a platinum variant. The Platinum version offers the following additional functions:

  • 4K / Ultra HD support
  • Play, edit and import HEVC (H.265)
  • 4K video templates and video effects
  • Ripping and converting Blu-ray discs
  • Music recorder for recording Internet radio
  • Additional video, transition and picture-in-picture effects
  • Additional movie templates and disc menu templates

Products included

Burning and copying discs

  • Nero Burning ROM : a program for burning and copying optical discs (CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays). The creation of audio CDs also offers functions. Burning ROM is one of the first products from Nero and is also available separately. As of version 2015, the Nero AirBurn app and Nero Burning ROM can also be used to burn media from mobile devices if the mobile device and PC are connected to the same WLAN . As of version 2017, the SecurDisc 4.0 technology with 256-bit encryption is included in the product, which enables maximum disk password protection.
  • Nero Express : a simplified version of Nero Burning ROM, which is aimed primarily at beginners. Nero AirBurn App does not work in conjunction with Nero Express.

Video editing and video disc creation

  • Nero Video is software for creating and editing videos. The program combines video editing (including the use of effects, music and themes), video export, and DVD and Blu-ray authoring . In video editing there is a mode for beginners and one for advanced editing. The program can also be downloaded separately.

File conversion

  • Nero Recode : converts video and audio files as well as non-copy-protected video DVDs and Blu-rays (Platinum version only) into numerous video formats .
  • Nero Disc to Device is an application for converting video discs and audio CDs directly to mobile devices or to the cloud .
  • Nero Burning ROM offers burning functions, options for converting audio formats as well as media management and playback
  • Nero MediaHome : The software allows the management and playback of images, videos and music files. In addition to ripping audio CDs and creating playlists and slideshows, there are functions for organizing such as assigning tags , facial recognition in images and reading out and manually setting location information ( geotagging ) for photos and videos. Also, the streaming for TVs and home media players is possible. From version 2015, the Nero MediaHome Receiver app can be used to stream to mobile devices ( iOS , Android , Amazon ).
  • Nero MediaHome is also available for download as a free version with limited functionality.
  • Nero Media Browser : Simple tools for accessing media content. Provides the complete Nero MediaHome media library via drag and drop, even for non-Nero programs.

  • Nero Rescue Agent is suitable for restoring data from damaged or scratched storage media (discs, hard drives, USB and flash drives).

  • Nero CoverDesigner : Tool for creating and designing covers
  • Nero BurnRights : Administrators can use this software to grant other users access to drives.
  • Nero DiscSpeed : a tool for recording drive speed and for diagnosing performance
  • Nero WaveEditor : Tool for editing music files (recording, editing, filtering, mixing and exporting)
  • Nero SoundTrax : Tool for mixing and digitizing music tracks
  • Nero InCD Reader 5 : This tool can be used to read CDs created with InCD.
  • Nero SecurDisc Viewer : This tool allows reading of optical data carriers created using the SecurDisc process.
  • Nero Streaming Player App : Play pictures, videos and music on mobile devices, smart TVs, the PlayStation or other devices in the home network.
  • Nero KnowHow App : Digital learning aid with tips and tricks. With answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ), manuals, video tutorials, access to the user forum and glossary.
  • Nero MediaHome Wifi Sync App : With the Nero MediaHome Wifi Sync App, media can be transferred wirelessly from the mobile device to the PC and from the PC to the mobile device. Both devices must be registered in the same network for this.
