Nervi palatini minores
The nervi palatini minores (Latin for "small palatal nerves") are nerve branches from the pterygopalatine ganglion . They pull behind the large palatal nerve ( nervus palatinus major ) through the small palatal canal ( canales palatini minores ) between the palatine bone and the upper jaw and enter the hard palate at the small palatal holes ( foramina palatina minora ) together with the arteries of the same name (aa. Palatinae minores) one to branch out there.
The nervi palatini minores supply the oral surface of the soft palate , the arcus palatopharyngeus , the palatine tonsil and the supratonsillar fossa . In addition, motor fibers run in them from the facial nerve and the glossopharyngeal nerve for the palatopharyngeal muscle , the uvulae muscle and the levator veli palatini muscle . In addition, taste fibers from the soft palate that originate from the nervus intermedius run in the nervi palatini minores .
