The nervus cutaneus femoris posterior ("posterior thigh skin nerve ") is a sensitive nerve of the cross plexus ( plexus sacralis ). It innervates the skin of the back of the thighs to the hollow of the knee and parts of the perineum . In animals it is called the caudal femoral cutaneous nerve .

The cells of origin ( root cells ) of the nerve are located in the cross part of the spinal cord from the first to the third cross vertebra (S1-S3).

In humans, the nerve runs together with the inferior gluteus nerve , the inferior gluteal artery , the sciatic nerve , the pudendal nerve, and the internal pudendal artery and vein through the infrapiriforme foramen , the part of the greater ischial foramen below the piriformis muscle .
