The Nesthauser See is an approximately 50 hectare man-made lake in Paderborn . It is located in the south of the Sande district on the border with the Elsen district and is named after the Nesthausen district of Elsen .
The lake is divided into two parts, so that one should actually speak of two lakes. There is a 5-mast water ski cable car on each of the two parts of the privately owned lake . In the area around Paderborn one therefore also speaks of the "water ski lake".
In the immediate vicinity is the Lippesee in the north . Both the Nesthauser lake and the Lippesee are so-called artificial lakes formed by gravel mining have emerged. In contrast to the Lippesee, however, no gravel is extracted in the Nesthauser See today . There is still a gravel works at Nesthauser See, but the goods to be processed here are extracted by suction dredgers in the neighboring Lippesee and transported here through a pipeline .
