Nestor-Désiré Nongo-Aziagbia SMA (born March 6, 1970 in Mbaiki , Central African Republic ) is Bishop of Bossangoa and President of the Central African Bishops' Conference ( CECA ).

Life

Nestor-Désiré Nongo-Aziagbia joined the religious order of the Society of Africa Missions , made his profession in 1994 and was ordained a priest on August 23, 1998 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Bossangoa on May 14, 2012 . The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Cardinal Fernando Filoni , ordained him episcopal on July 28th of the same year .

In April 2014 he was kidnapped by Muslim rebels.

From July 2013 to January 2019, Nongo-Aziagbia was Vice President of the Central African Bishops' Conference ( CECA ). On January 18, 2019, he was elected President of the Central African Bishops' Conference. He took over from Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga , Archbishop of Bangui .
