Network of medium-sized universities
The Network of Medium-sized Universities ( MGU ) is a network of medium-sized German universities . The network was launched in 2006 on the initiative of the Universities of Kassel and Oldenburg; in 2008 it was constituted for the first time under the Network of Medium-sized Universities . Currently (as of February 2019) 18 universities from all over Germany belong to the network. Jens Strackeljan , the rector of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg , and Peter Scharff , the president of the Technical University of Ilmenau are responsible for the lead coordination .
