New Nuifra

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neu-Nuifra ( grayling pond ) has been part of the Pfalzgrafenweiler community in Baden-Württemberg since 1951 .

Neu-Nuifra was founded after the decree of the Duke of Württemberg on July 20, 1723. The decree allowed eight families to settle down as wood cutters, potash cookers and soot burners . Each family received 20 acres of land for reclamation and the necessary timber for free. The settlers came from Pfalzgrafenweiler , Grömbach , Baisingen , Dobel , Garrweiler and Spielberg . In 1724 Neu-Nuifra became part of the Herzogsweiler community .

The name "Äschenteich" is reminiscent of the potash boiler operated by the first settlers. In 1858 Neu-Nuifra had 137 inhabitants who earned their livelihoods in the forest and in agriculture.

On the right side of the Waldachtal, between the Mandelburg and Altnuifra , there used to be another place called "Uttenweiler" with its own church, but it became desolate before the Thirty Years' War .
