Neuberzdorf was a miners' settlement in the community of Schönau-Berzdorf auf dem Eigen , which was both founded and abandoned in the 20th century.

history

The settlement was created in 1920 in connection with the development of an open- cast lignite mine in Berzdorf auf dem Eigen on the western boundary to the neighboring community of Schönau auf dem Eigen at the time . 20 semi-detached houses were built by the Bergmannsheim settlement community .

After the Second World War, following land reform emerged six courtyards Neubauer 1946-1950. Another six houses for miners were built in 1950/1951 by the reopened lignite plant. In 1965/1966 the LPG built three apartment blocks with 20 apartments for cooperative farmers. Furthermore, three cow stalls with a capacity for 240 cows were built.

In the years 1989/1990 Neuberzdorf was devastated to make room for the outer dump of the Berzdorf opencast mine . According to official information, 185 people were resettled. In this context, four semi-detached houses and two apartment blocks were built in Schönau at the southern exit of the town.

Until December 30, 1995 Neuberzdorf was run as a district of the community Schönau-Berzdorf on the own. It was then merged with the district of Schönau-Berzdorf ad Eigen, so that it corresponds to the municipality before the incorporation of Kiesdorf on the Eigen .

The Neuberzdorfer Höhe with the observation tower of the same name reminds of the settlement.
