New mill (Brandenburg an der Havel)
Neue Mühle is a residential area in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel . It is grouped around a mill dam of a historic mill in the course of the Buckau River .
history
In 1358 the new mill between the villages of Groben, later called Görisgräben , and Wendgräben was mentioned in a document. Both villages and the mill belonged to the medieval Neustadt Brandenburg . Historians suggest that either a second mill stood nearby or that a pre-existing mill was moved. In 1438 the people of Neustadt began building a waiting tower , which became part of the Landwehr in the Neustädter Forest . Also part of the Landwehr were largely preserved ramparts near the living space. In 1470, the New Mill was described as belonging to the Görisgräbens field mark .
The mill continued to operate in the following centuries until the end of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century it was in such a bad structural condition that it was torn down and a restaurant opened in its place. In 1990, after the end of the GDR , there was no new operator for the restaurant and the building fell into disrepair. The film producer Horst Wendlandt then acquired the Neue Mühle restaurant in 1996. He had the pre-existing building demolished and an adapted new building built in the half-timbered style on the same spot . The tower was renovated and the restaurant was leased.
Infrastructure
The Neue Mühle residential area includes some residential buildings, the excursion restaurant, the historic watch tower, the Buckau barrage and several dammed fish ponds that are used as fishing waters. Neue Mühle is about one kilometer west of Landesstraße 93. Two regional bus routes serve the Abzweig to Neue Mühle stop .
