The New Middle School in Gries am Brenner is one of three New Middle Schools in the Tyrolean Wipptal . In 2013, the first class started as a new middle school in the secondary school in Gries am Brenner .
In 2013 and 2014 the entire school building was completely renovated.
The building
In addition to the classrooms, there is a break room on each floor of the four-story building. The two gyms are also used by the Gries elementary school and the kindergarten. There is a music room, a computer room, two work rooms (textile and technical), a library, a drawing room, a physics and chemistry room, a kitchen and a culture room.
In the modern building there are activeboards in every classroom and a complex network system in which every student and teacher has their own user with access to the computers at the school and a TSN account. In each class there are three laptops and a teacher's computer that is connected to the Activeboard.
student
The 131 students come either from Gries am Brenner itself or from the surrounding communities of Obernberg am Brenner , Vals / St. Jodok and Schmirn .
School principle
The pupils are not divided into different performance groups as in the Hauptschule. In addition, there are two teachers in the class for each of the main subjects.
In the main subjects, half of the hours per week are spent as free work. There, the students can choose between different learning jobs created by the teachers in which they have to complete different assignments. Depending on the task, you can work alone or in groups. The laptops can also serve as an aid. The learning jobs are completed with the learning objective check, a small test that checks whether the learning content has been understood.
In the normal hours of the main subjects, the two teachers take turns teaching.
From the 3rd grade onwards there is a different grading system in which a distinction is made between basic and advanced grades. Roughly speaking, the recessed grades would be grades 1-4 in the normal staff . In this grading system, a 5 is split into three further grades (3, 4 and 5 fundamentally). So a 5 would basically be a 7 in the normal grading system, so to speak .
