Neuglashütten (desertification)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neuglashütten was a place in the Rhön near Motten in north-west Bavaria with 122 inhabitants in 1931. With the establishment of the Wildflecken military training area by the Wehrmacht , the place disappeared in 1938.

location

Neuglashütten was located 474 meters above sea level on the northern slope of the Kleiner Auersberg in the valley of the Kleine Sinn . The houses were scattered above and below the main road from Kothen to Reussendorf .

history

The area was settled by Neuglashütten in 1684, when the glassworks was moved there from the nearby Altglashütten . However, it only stayed until 1704 when it was moved back again. In the church records a distinction was made between the two places only from 1730. The entries in front of it read ex vitriaria fuldensis , which means from the Fulda glassworks. For the first time there was a summer school in town from 1777 to 1781. After that, the children were taught in old glass works until 1887, when a school building was built. The town never had its own church. The church in Kothen was visited until the local chaplaincy was established in the neighboring Altglashütten. The evacuation date for the village was April 1, 1938. After the Second World War , plans were made at short notice to repopulate the village. However, the residents of the surrounding areas began to collect usable building material from 1945 onwards, so that the remaining ruins were released for final demolition from 1946 to 1948.

The former rural community of Neuglashütten only consisted of the village of the same name and covered 82.75 hectares . It was dissolved in 1942 and assigned to the Wildflecken Heeresguts district . The community had already resettled at the time of the 1939 census.
