Neumühle is a district of the municipality of Obernheim-Kirchenarnbach in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The Neumühle was founded around 1756. The farm workers fled from the nearby Karlsberg Castle ( Homburg ), which was later destroyed by French revolutionary troops. Over the years, Neumühle became a place of refuge and settlement for various marginalized social groups in the surrounding area, including Yenish families and families who had fled from France.

The Neumühle was characterized by poor houses that stood along a steep valley road. From there still living descendants of Jenischen only a few speak Jenisch . In the course of time, the village lost its original character due to the larger new development areas in the vicinity.

In the post-war period, because of some serious crimes, Neumühler perpetrators in the area came to a large-scale trial, which made headlines nationwide because of its spectacular nature . He intensified the long-term generalized criminalization of the residents and their collective exclusion as a regional fringe group by the majority population.

This process gave the impetus to a social program for the Neumühle, which ensured structural changes. The results now include a significant improvement in school qualifications and positive professional developments.
