The Neumühle is a former flour mill in Weismain . It is considered the mill with the oldest building structure in the city and is the only one that still has a functioning mill wheel .

history

The Neumühle was built at the beginning of the 17th century. After being destroyed in the Thirty Years War , it was initially not rebuilt. In 1746 at the latest, the mill was rebuilt in the same place by Johann Gottfried Weyermüller. From 1843 to 1866 it was used as a wool spinning mill, and then again as a grain mill.

architecture

The two-storey building has a high Mansard - hipped roof . The mill wheel, an undershot rod wheel , can be visited. In the current structure, the Neumühle is the oldest of all the mills in the center of Weismain. With the exception of the window openings that were enlarged in the second half of the 20th century, the exterior of the building is almost identical to the appearance of 1746.
