Neumarkt city run

The Neumarkt City Run is a fun run that takes place in September in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . It takes place in favor of the German bone marrow donor database, parts of the proceeds are also donated to charitable projects in the Neumarkt region. The city run has been held since 2000 and the number of participants has risen considerably since then: while around 700 runners took part in 2000, 3,219 people started in 2008. In 2005 the city run was added to the list of German Road Races .

Runs and distances

The city run consists of different runs: In addition to the half marathon , the youth run over 3300 meters, the trial run over 5.500 meters and a 10.5-kilometer run are offered. For children between 7 and 10 years of age, the Bambini run takes place over 900 meters.

All runs run over the same route, with different sections being run. The start and finish are in the old town on Rathausplatz. From here the entire course leads through the districts of Holzheim , Altenhof and Kohlenbrunnermühle , through the LGS Park, along the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal and over the fairground and Freystädter Strasse back to the Rathausplatz.

Supporting program

The city run program begins on Friday evening with the city ​​run opening party in a restaurant or discotheque.

On Saturday the wine festival takes place on Rathausplatz , where various bands perform well into the night. In the evening there is the Blade Night, an inline skates tour over about 6 kilometers.

The actual city run begins on Sunday morning, from 9:30 a.m. the various runs start one after the other. In the afternoon there will be the award ceremony and the closing party.
