Culture and society

There are some well-known songs with nineteen in the title, most of which relate to the age of young adults. With "Nineteen" Paul Hardcastle placed a number 1 hit in the German charts in 1985. The text refers to the average age of American soldiers killed in the Vietnam War . Another anti-war song is I Was Only 19 (A Walk in the Light Green) by the Australian group Redgum . Other titles are "Hey, Nineteen" by Steely Dan and "Nineteen Forever" by Joe Jackson . The 1968 DEFA film I Was Nineteen also relates to age 19. The Rolling Stones had a No. 1 hit in the 1960s with their song "Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown". Adele's album " 19 " is also named after the artist's age.

Various attempts have been made in music with a nineteen- step tuning which divides the octave into 19 equally large steps.
