Neustift is a part of the Heining district in the independent city of Passau . It must not be confused with Neustift near Ortenburg, which is only 15 kilometers to the west .

history

The settlement was based on the Schwarzensäge ( Schwarze Sag ) of Michael Sagmeister, first mentioned in 1523 , whose name was also a professional title. Neustift belonged to the county Neuburg and formed in the Official Heining the chairman shaft Eichet and Neustift. The count's court tavern was located here .

After the communities were formed, Neustift belonged to the Heining community. There has been a school in Neustift since 1900, which received a new building in 1956 and 1968. In 1958 an exposition was established, which in 1961 was raised to the parish of Neustift. Neustift came to Passau in 1972 with the Heining community. Neustift is one of the assembly areas of Passau established in 2013.
