action

In an autumn forest landscape, a blood-smeared man, Frank Hill, wakes up hanging upside down with a noose from a tree. The slightly injured person is traumatized and suffers from complete amnesia, which robs him of all memories, so that at first he does not even know his own name. In the further course of the plot he gets back to fragmentary memories via dreamlike, sometimes surreal flashbacks, which help him to reconstruct the events.

Before that happens, however, Frank is pursued by a black-clad man who ambushes him with a revolver and threatens him with death if he does not parry his will. The taciturn and discreet man named Andy wants to lead his counterpart, who can meanwhile identify himself as Frank Hill, to a nearby accommodation to show him the scene of a massacre. He suspects his wife Natasha, who has since disappeared without a trace, to be nearby. He hopes to find out more about his wife's whereabouts from Frank, so he leads him back to that place in the hope that his memories will come back. On their way to the property, the two of them find the dying park ranger Tom Martin, who dies in front of their eyes as a result of countless gunshot wounds. Frank is irritated at this point because he previously found a knife with the label of the park ranger on it. An argument ensues between the two, which escalates when Andy informs him that the dead person was killed by Frank Hill in cold blood. Frank cannot do anything with the accusations and ignorantly denies any involvement in the crime; He secretly suspects some form of plot and considers himself a victim of an intrigue.

However, when Andy reveals to him that he should have done something to his wife Natasha and that he should also have raged as a psychopathic murderer, he gets serious doubts about his own thesis; he could be a murderer! After a short hike, the unequal team finally reaches the Waldhaus. Frank asks for a short break and then appears changed. He regains his full memory during this phase, but withholds this from Andy. In the house they find the bodies of a couple who were friends with Andy, who were shot. Now the jealous Andy threatens to kill Frank if he does not reveal the whereabouts of his wife, Natasha, whom he has been looking for ever since. Andy leads Frank to his car, in which is the strangled Natasha, a colleague of Frank's work. Shortly afterwards he kills Andy and flees towards the forest.
