Nevers Mumba (born May 18, 1960 ) is a pastor and politician in Zambia .

Nevers Mumba was born in northern Zambia as one of twelve children of the teacher Sunday Peter Mumba and his wife Martha. He attended Hillcrest Technical Secondary School in Livingstone , one of the most prestigious schools in Zambia. He has been friends with the evangelist Reinhard Bonnke since 1981 , on whose recommendation he was admitted to the Bible College of Christ for the Nations , where he graduated in 1984.

Afterwards, Mumba founded a church in Zambia that quickly numbered 1,000 members and planned to start 17 more. He enjoys a great reputation as an evangelist in the Zambian television station Trinity Broadcasting Network , but also in Uganda , Namibia and Canada . He has repeatedly appeared on broadcasts in the Republic of South Africa and on the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach, USA . He is considered a very committed preacher. He is the founder and president of Victory Ministries International , which campaigns against the financial and supply disadvantages of developing countries, and maintains Victory University . From the University of Michigan-Flint he was awarded a Dr. honoris causa honored.

In the 2001 election in Zambia , Mumba ran as a presidential candidate for the National Citizens' Coalition and received 2.2 percent of the vote. He was then Vice President of Zambia from May 2003 to October 4, 2004. As such, he was in charge of constitutional reform. There was a quarrel with Levy Mwanawasa over moral issues, more precisely because of informal payments by Zambian politicians to Laurent-Désiré Kabila in the Democratic Republic of the Congo , against which Nervers Mumba publicly appealed.

Mumba has been President of the Reform Party since 2006 . In 2006 this formed the National Democratic Front electoral alliance with All People's Congress , the Party for Unity, Democracy and Development , Zambia Republican Party and the Zambia Development Congress . This electoral alliance was renamed National Democratic Focus and nominated Benjamin Mwila as the presidential candidate .

Private life

Mumba is married and has five children with his wife Florence, a sister of Kenneth Kaunda .
