New Zealand Offshore Islands
New Zealand Offshore Islands , sometimes also referred to as New Zealand Outlying Islands , is a collective name for seven archipelagos thatlieoutside the two main islands of New Zealand and Stewart Island , but not a dependent area like Tokelau and also no self-governing territory in "free association with New Zealand" like Niue or the Cook Islands represent.

Only the Chatham Islands are permanently inhabited, but they form a separate region and do not belong to the " Offshore Islands ". There is a manned meteorological station on Raoul Island, which belongs to the Kermadec Islands, and an unmanned meteorological station has existed on Campbell Island since 1995 . The five southernmost island groups were in December 1998 for UNESCO - World Heritage collectively, "New Zealand Sub-Antarctic Islands" and may not be entered or only under certain conditions.
