Ngaanyatjarraku Shire is located in the east of the state on the border with South Australia and the Northern Territory on the Great Central Road and is between 1200 and 1600 kilometers from the capital Perth . The seat of the Shire Council is in the town of Warburton , where about 575 inhabitants live (2016).

The Giles Meteorological Station is also located in the area of ​​the Shires, five kilometers north of Warakurna .

The Ngaanyatjarraku Council has eight members. They are elected by all residents of the LGA. Ngaanyatjarraku Shire is not divided into districts. The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
