Ngatukondje Nganjone

Ngatu (born September 18, 1975 in Old Farm , Zambia ; actually Ngatukondje Nganjone ) is a Namibian musician.

Ngatu was born in Old Farm (Zambia) as the son of Namibian refugees. He grew up in a refugee camp in Kwanza Sul ( Angola ). His family returned to Namibia in 1990 .

In 1988 Ngatu started playing guitar. He founded his first band at his school in Opuwo together with other students. The first public appearance took place in March 1994 on the day of the independence celebrations at her school.

From 1994 to 2004 Ngatu was the singer in the band Mighty Dreads (founded under the name Young Dreads ). He released his first solo album The Biggest Gift in 2004 on Grounded Music. In 2005 he was the first Namibian band to appear at the Montreux Jazz Festival with Ras Sheehama and other musicians . In the same year he joined the Formula Band as a singer and guitarist.

Ngatu describes his music as a mixture of Shambo , African Fusion and Reggae .
