from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nhã nhạc , also Nha nhac cung dinh , Chinese  雅 樂 , for example "elegant music" or "solemn music", is a form of Vietnamese court music. Vietnamese court music is very diverse; the term nhã nhạc is applied to the musical styles from the 15th century to the Nguyễn dynasty , which ended in the middle of the 20th century.

Nhã nhạc is played in the old emperor and capital Huế . In 2008, UNESCO declared this music a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity .

Nhã nhạc

Nhã nhạc was played on the occasion of annual ceremonies, anniversaries, religious holidays, and special events such as coronations, funerals, or official receptions; this by highly trained and experienced musicians. Traditional Vietnamese dance events were also performed. Musicians and dancers wore elaborately designed costumes for their performances. The music of the Nhã Nhạc experienced the greatest foreign influence during the Ming dynasty of the Chinese Empire . In addition, earlier elements of Champa music from the 9th and 10th centuries were added.
