Niagara Peninsula

The Niagara Peninsula (English Niagara Peninsula ) is a region in the south of the Canadian province of Ontario . It is bounded by Lake Ontario in the north, the Niagara River in the east, Lake Erie in the south and the city of Hamilton in the west. Most of the peninsula belongs to the Regional Municipality of Niagara . Cities in the region include St. Catharines , Niagara Falls , Welland, and Niagara-on-the-Lake .

The area is geographically marked on the one hand from the Niagara Falls , the other part of the hilly terrain Niagara Escarpment (Niagara Escarpment) , the 1990 by the UNESCO for Biosphärenreservat was explained. The Niagara Peninsula also forms the southeastern end of the Golden Horseshoe , the densely populated coastal strip along Lake Ontario.
