Niagol Stoyanov (born May 31, 1987 in Sofia ) is an Italian table tennis player of Bulgarian origin. Since the 2016/2017 season he has been playing for the French first division club AS Pontoise-Cergy TT . He is right-handed and uses the shakehand racket pose .

Career

Stoyanov was eligible to play for Bulgaria until 2005. In 2007 the first international assignments for Italy followed. He was able to reach the quarter-finals in singles at the European Championships in 2007 , making him the first Italian table tennis player to do so.

At the Belgium Open, where Stoyanov started with injuries, he reached the semi-finals in singles and doubles. For the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , he could not qualify. At the 2009 World Cup , he reached the first main round with the team, where they lost to China . In 2009 he won the Italian championship, beating Mihai Bobocica in the final.

Due to injuries, he was only able to take part in the EM again in 2011 . Here he met Patrick Baum in the second round , to whom he lost 4-2. With the team he won the Play Off Italian League, where he was used in 13 games. Further appearances followed in 2013, including at the Belarus Open, where he met the top 100 player Kohei Sambe in the quarter-finals , the game was lost 3: 4. In 2014 he was more active on the World Tour, with successes against Alexandre Cassin, whom he eliminated at the Spanish Open. He was able to win the national championships again in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
