Niasony

Niasony (* 5. November 1973 as Alexandrine Severine Niasony Okomo in Brazzaville , Republic of Congo ) is a living in Dusseldorf singer. Their music can be assigned to the genres Afro , Reggae , Afrobeat and world music.

Life

Niasony came to Germany from the Republic of the Congo at the age of 13 . There she moved to live with her mother in Heiligenhaus , whom she had left behind with her older brother in the Congo at the age of seven. At the age of 16 she was hired as a model. She later trained as a beautician and sang, danced and choreographed in various projects. In 2007 her brother, who was only 19 years old, was deported to Germany. To deal with this, she started making music.

Her debut album Afroplastique was partly funded by crowdfunding on the Startnext platform. The lyrics are all sung in the Congolese Lingála language.

Her style is shaped by the Lingála language. She herself describes her style of music as Afroplastique . Quote: “Afro stands for my roots and Plastique stands for the great poverty on my continent. Because my first shoes were sandals made of brown plastic, which I was very proud of. "
