Nichijou ( Japanese 日常 , Nichijō , dt. "Everyday life") is a series of gag manga written and drawn by Keiichi Arawi . It appeared after a short run from October 2006 to October 2015 in the magazine Shōnen Ace published by Kadokawa Shoten . It was also published for about a year in Comptiq magazine and for two years (with interruptions) in 4-Koma Nano Ace magazine.

Based on the manga, an OVA and the eponymous anime television series Nichijou, which was produced by Kyōto Animation and began broadcasting in April 2011, were created.

action

At the center of the plot are several different characters who display the most varied and mostly quite unusual behaviors. Contrary to the title of the Manga series, numerous situations arise that are anything but everyday. The closer center of the characters includes three schoolgirls. These are the extremely energetic Yūko Aioi ( 相 生 祐 子 , Aioi Yūko ), the friendly and attentive Mio Naganohara ( 長野 原 み お , Naganohara Mio ) and the very reserved and quiet Mai Minakami ( 水上 麻衣 , Minakami Mai ), who have it all behind the Has ears. The second group of main characters is the robot girl Nano Shinonome ( 東 雲 な の , Shinonome Nano ), her young builder, who is only known as a doctor ( は か せ , Hakase ), and the talking cat Sakamoto ( 阪 本 ).

Creation and publication

Manga

Nichijou began as a series of gag manga drawn and written by Keiichi Arawi , in which the regular page layout alternates with that of a Yonkoma . Initially only the publication of a few chapters was planned, which appeared from the issues 5/2006 to 10/2006 on March 26 and August in the magazine Shōnen Ace published by Kadokawa Shoten . However, regular publication in the magazine began from issue 12/2006 on October 26th. In the meantime, the series also appeared from March 2007 to July 2008 in Comptiq magazine , which is also published by Kadokawa Shoten, and in 4-Koma Nano Ace magazine , namely (with interruptions) from the first edition (Vol. 1) from March 9th 2011 to the 10/2013 issue of September 9, 2013, with which the magazine was discontinued.

A first summary as Tankōbon appeared on July 26, 2007. In issue 10/2015 of Shōnen Ace , which appeared on August 26, it was announced that the manga should end with the appearance of the 10th Tankōbon. The last chapter in the magazine was printed two months later in issue 12/2015. The 10th and last Tankōbon was published on December 10, 2015 in a special edition with an additional volume with as yet unpublished material; the normal edition should follow on December 26, 2015.

Anime

Based on the manga, the eponymous anime television series Nichijou was created , animated by Kyōto Animation and directed by Tatsuya Ishihara . Even before the regular broadcast, the OVA Nichijou Episode 0 was released together with the special edition of the 6th manga volume on March 12, 2011, which was produced as a preparation for the television series.

The first broadcast of the series began on the night of April 3, 2011 (and thus on the previous television day ) on TV Aichi . In the following days the series was also broadcast on the channels Smile Channel , Chiba TV , TV Saitama , KBS , TV Kanagawa , Shinhiroshima Telecasting , Sun-TV , Tokyo MX , MRO , GTV , FBC , TVQ Kyushu , TV Setouchi , TV Hokkaido , Tulip Television and TBC .
