Nicholas John Barrington

Sir Nicholas John Barrington FRSA , CVO (1975), CMG (1982) ( 23 July 1934 - 14 December 2016 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

Nicholas John Barrington is the son of Eric A. Barrington. He holds a Masters degree from Repton Clare College, Cambridge. Nicholas John Barrington served in the British Army from September 4, 1952 to September 27, 1854. He joined the foreign service on August 26, 1957. In July 1958 he was sent to Tehran .

From 1959 to 1961 he was the third class embassy secretary in Kabul . from 1961 to 1963 he was employed in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office . In 1964 he was employed in Brussels . In 1965 he became first class secretary of the embassy in Rawalpindi. In April 1978 he was promoted to Counselor in Cairo. From 1981 to 1983 he headed the British Interest Section in Tehran . From July 1987 he was Her Majesty Ambassador Islamabad when Pakistan joined the Commonwealth of Nations in 1989, the function was downgraded accordingly to High Commissioner .
