Nicholas D. Kristof
Nicholas Donabet Kristof (born April 27, 1959 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American journalist, author and columnist and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner .
Life
Career
Kristof studied at Harvard University and at Magdalen College of Oxford University . In 1981 he became a member of the Phi Beta Kappa community. He began working as a correspondent for The New York Times in 1984 . Today he writes as a columnist for various print media, such as the Los Angeles Times , Time Magazine and The New York Times.
In 1990 he and his wife Sheryl WuDunn won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for their coverage of the Tian'anmen massacre . In 2006 Kristof won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary award for the second time for his commentary on the Darfur conflict .
Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn published the book Half the Sky: How women worldwide fight for a better future (original title: Half the Sky ) about the discrimination of women in the world and their fight against it.
In 2017 Kristof was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Kristof lives on a small farm near Yamhill, Oregon with his wife of journalist Sheryl WuDunn and their 3 children .
