Nicholas Nahas

Nicholas Nahas (born November 28, 1946 in Tripoli ) is a Lebanese businessman and politician and since June 13, 2011 the Minister of Economic Affairs of Lebanon.

Early life

Nahas was born in the at-Tall neighborhood of Tripoli to a family of Greek Orthodox Christians. He studied at the Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut and graduated in civil engineering in 1972. In 1992 he completed the International Senior Managers Program at Harvard Business School .

Political career

The then Prime Minister Najib Miqati appointed Nahas as chief advisor in economic matters in 2005. Nahas was appointed Minister of Economy on June 13, 2011 in the Lebanese government of June 2011, again led by Miqati . He is one of the ministers not appointed by Hezbollah.

family

Nahas is married to Antoinette, nee Haidar, and the couple have three children.
