The Nicholson River is a river in the east of Gippsland in the Australian state of Victoria .

geography

Its catchment area lies between those of the Mitchell River and the Tambo River . The river is 72.5 km long.

The source is in the Angora Range , on the west side of Mount Baidhead in the foothills of the Australian Alps west of Ensay . It flows in a southeastern direction through the small town of Nicholson and flows into Lake King , one of the Gippsland lakes .
