The Nicholson Rock is a 1,592 m high rock formation in Marie-Byrd Land in western Antarctica . In the eastern part of the Toney Mountain massif, it rises 4 km east of Cox Bluff from the mostly snow-covered Spitz Ridge .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1976 after Charles E. Nicholson, a construction electrician at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in 1974 .
