The non-structural protein 2 (NS2, synonym nuclear export protein , NEP) of the influenza virus is a protein that during an infection in the course of an immune evasion the immune response decreases and increases the production of Tochtervirionen.

properties

The non-structural protein 2, like the non-structural protein 1 , mostly does not occur in the virion , which is where the name comes from. NS2 is occasionally found in small amounts in the virion, but is predominantly in the cytosol and the cell nucleus . NS2 has a nuclear export signal, binds to matrix protein 1 and mediates the export of newly formed viral ribonucleoproteins from the cell nucleus into the cytosol via CRM1 . The NS2 gene lies on the same genomic segment as the NS1 gene . NS2 also regulates the replication and transcription of the RNA of influenza viruses.
