Nickolas Steele

Nickolas Steele is a Grenadian politician from the New National Party (NNP) who was Foreign Minister between 2013 and 2014.

Life

Steele began studying business administration and finance at Northwestern University in Chicago after attending Wellesley College . After his return to Grenada he worked in the private sector and worked in the development and management of various commercial companies. He was also speaker of the New National Party (NNP) on trade, industry and economic development and was elected to the House of Representatives as a candidate for the NNP in the constituency of the Town of St. George .

After the landslide victory in the February 19, 2013 elections, in which the NNP won all 15 seats in the House of Representatives, Steele was first appointed Foreign Secretary to Prime Minister Keith Claudius Mitchell's cabinet, in which Mitchell himself held the offices of Minister of Finance, National security and home affairs took over. As part of a cabinet reshuffle, he replaced Clarice Modeste-Curwen as Minister for Health and Social Security on December 1, 2014 , while Modeste-Curwen became his own successor as Grenada's Foreign Minister. As part of a further cabinet reshuffle, he became Minister for Health, Social Security and International Economy on July 1, 2016.
