Nico Franke (born September 13, 1999 in Rinteln ) is a German crossminton (formerly speed badminton) player. Franke became world champion in 2015, European champion in 2016 and German champion in 2015 and 2016, each in the U18 youth category. He is the current number 1 in the ICO world ranking U18 male.

In March 2017 Franke won his first tournament in the Open Division in Hessisch Oldendorf , where he also lives. In addition to his sports career, Nico Franke is a partner at DogMall.

Career

2012

Nico Franke starts 2012 for the first time in a tournament of the ISBO World series. He took 3rd place in the U14 in Wolfsburg.

2014

At the 2014 European Championships, Nico Franke was runner-up in the U18 doubles category alongside his brother Maximilian.

2015

At the 2015 World Championship, Nico Franke was runner-up in the U18 doubles category alongside his brother Maximilian. He was also able to win his first major title, the world title, in 2015.

2016

In 2016 Nico Franke became European champion in France and number 1 in the U18 world rankings for the first time.

2017

In 2017 Nico Franke was accepted into the Speedminton team for the first time.

In terms of sport, Nico achieved the next breakthrough. He won the first title in the Open Division on home soil at the Weserbergland Open. He was able to win another title at the Fuchsbau Multicourt Cup held in Berlin.

At the 2017 World Championships, Nico Franke was runner-up in the U18 singles and U18 doubles (with Philip Richter).
